First Aid Responder
Course Details
This 3 day course meets FETAC level 5 standards in First Aid training and is valid for 2 years. It is suitable for people who wish to become First Aiders in the Workplace. This programme requires a high level of participation and interaction. Our approach to training incorporates both practical and interactive learning, giving the participants the ability to put theory into practice and to cope with real-life situations that may arise in the workplace. This course is classroom based with each theory session followed by skills demonstration and scenario-based training.
Course Aims
The course will provide the learner with the knowledge, practical skills and understanding required to co-ordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and the associated Guide to these Regulations.
Course Contents
The specific learning outcomes are grouped into 8 units:
- First aid in the workplace
- Patient assessments
- Respiratory emergencies
- Cardiac first response (includes AED)
- Wounds and bleeding
- Altered levels of consciousness
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Burns and scalds, chemicals, electric shock
Delegate Assessment
- Written exam (internal)

Max of 8 participants.
Certification
Each delegate will receive a:
- PHECC first aid responder certificate which is valid for 2 years.
- Resuscitation Face mask
- Course booklet
The Instructor
This course is delivered by a qualified first aid instructor who also is a nurse with over 20 years experience in both the adult & children’s section. She has seen it all in that time and has accumulated the knowledge to answer any questions you may have.
